DAVAO CITY, June 14 (PIA) - The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI has chosen priority sectors to comprise the 14 slots allocated for the Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) in the Council for the term 2019-2022.
After deliberation during the 2nd Quarter Full Council Meeting on Monday, June 10, the RDC-XI came up with an equal number of sectoral representatives from the basic and business sectors.
The Council selected the following basic sectors identified under the Government's Social Reform Agenda: Labor, Indigenous People (IP), Farmers/Cooperatives/Irrigators' Associations, Fisherfolks, Persons with Disability (PWD)/Senior Citizens, Youth/Women/Children, and Urban Poor/Non-Government Organizations/Consumers' Associations.
Under the business sector, the RDC-XI prioritizes the following sectors: Mining, Forestry/Agribusiness, Housing/Construction, Energy/ICT, Academe, Safety and Security, and Tourism and Hospitality.
The selection of the sectoral representatives was based on the region's priority development thrusts and directions for 2019-2022, the priority industry clusters of the region, and the basic sectors identified under the Government's Social Reform Agenda.
The 14 slots allocation of PSRs in the Council comprises 25 per cent of the 55 fully constituted members of RDC-XI for term 2019-2022.
The next set of RDC XI PSRs shall be selected from the chosen sectors. The Private Sector Organizations with at least three-year track record in development work in Davao Region will be notified via an RDC XI Call for PSR nominees which shall be circulated from June to July this year.
A PSR Assembly/Selection Procedure shall then be undertaken, for onward confirmation by the RDC XI during its reorganization meeting in August 2019. The RDC PSR Selection Process is pursuant to EO 325, series of 1996, and its Implementing Rules and Regulation. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon with reports from NEDA-XI)
