KALIBO, Aklan, Dec. 6 (PIA6) -- The Provincial Capitol Grounds will be a sight to behold on December 16 with the activities lined up by the province of Aklan to highlight this year's celebration of Christmas.
The event dubbed "Paskwahan Sa Kapitolyo" will include activities such as Christmas Costume of Kids, Opening of Paskwahan Sa Kapitolyo and "Kaon Ta" Food Court, Ceremonial Lighting of Christmas Tree and Lights, and Provincial Government Employees Choral Competition.
The Paskwahan sa Kapitolyo was conceptualized by the Provincial Government of Aklan through the Aklan Provincial Tourism Office in partnership with the Aklan Culture and Arts Foundation.
Another attraction this Christmas that the province will showcase to Aklanons and visitors alike is the presentation of "Pagdungaw, A Glimpse of the Past Gala Show" which will be featured by the Tumandok it Akean Performing Arts on December 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the ABL Sports Complex, Capitol Grounds, Kalibo, Aklan.
Aklan Provincial Tourism Officer Roselle Q. Ruiz said the show will be a three-part presentation - with Part I as a dance-drama based on "Legend of Aklan" about the mythical creature "Panigutlo," a favored beast, while Part II will be a dance and song presentation of Aklanon folk songs and dances that portray certain traits of Aklanons such as hospitality, respect for elders and native customs, hardwork, patience, fortitude, sense of community, and appreciation of beauty.
The third part, on the other hand, will be a showcase of the province's various festivals depicting Aklan's rich cultural heritage and traditions, and indigenous, diverse and unique products found in every municipality of the province.
As in the activities to usher in Christmas at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, the Pagdungaw is also a collaboration among the provincial government here, the Aklan Culture and Arts Foundation, Inc., and the Aklan Provincial Tourism Office. (JBG/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
