BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11 percent, at 3,371.69 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.75 percent lower at 13,860.46 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices expanded to 1.37 trillion yuan (about 196.3 billion U.S. dollars) from 1.33 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 916 to 490 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,462 to 717 in Shenzhen.
Stocks related to digital currency led the gains, with shares of Beijing Certificate Authority Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to 60.5 yuan apiece.
Companies in the sectors of mini-LEDs and duty-free stores were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.26 percent to close at 2,832.84 points on Tuesday.
