KALIBO, Aklan, Oct. 24 (PIA) - Aklan governor Florencio Miraflores issued Executive Order (EO) No. 39, which provides the latest amendments in the guidelines in the management of the people in the province, as well as on tourism-related activities.
The latest EO, released by Miraflores, has now allowed individuals in Aklan aged 15 years old to 65 years old to go out from their houses.
On the other hand, those below 15 years old and over 65 years old, including those who have immunodeficiency, comorbidity and other health risks, as well as pregnant women, are still ordered to stay home at all times.
They may only be allowed to go out for indispensable concerns such as obtaining essential goods and services or for work in permitted industries and offices or to attend classes for students.
For tourism-related activities, specifically for non-Aklanon tourists going to Boracay Island, the pre-entry requirement of negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result has now been revised under the latest EO to not earlier 72 hours, from 48 hours, prior to the date of travel.
Tourists going to the island should have confirmed booking from a Department of Tourism-accredited accommodation establishment.
Also, travelers should register online as tourists for the Health Declaration Card available in the province's websites at aklan.gov.ph or touristboracay.com
Individuals outside Western Visayas planning to go to Boracay should ensure landing at the Godofredo R. Ramos Airport in Caticlan, Malay, as this is the only airport of entry in moving tourists to the island.
The Provincial Government of Aklan reminded tourists to strictly follow the aforesaid pre-entry requirements; otherwise, it will cause them denial from entry to Boracay.
As of October 22, the Malay Municipal Tourism Office, recorded a total of 1,4437 tourist arrivals in Boracay from the start of its reopening on October 1, 2020.
Meanwhile, the latest EO of the governor has allowed the operation of licensed cockpits and the conduct of cockfighting activities in Aklan subject to strict observance with health and safety protocols and implementing guidelines provided by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). However, local government units shall have the final decision for allowing such operation in their respective municipalities.
EO 39 was issued and has taken effect on October 19, 2020. (LTP/SQP/PIA-Aklan)
