BRATISLAVA, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The historic winning streak of HK Dukla Ingema Michalovce extended to nine games in Slovakia's Tipos Extraliga ice hockey league on Sunday.
With three consecutive first-period goals against Banska Bystrica, Dukla secured a clear 4-1 victory over the reigning champions and are now third in the rankings, just four points shy of second-placed Zvolen.
Zvolen edged the initial period against Nove Zamky 2-1 but the visitors returned the favor in the final stretch and dragged the game into overtime. It took Zvolen forward Milos Kelemen just 15 seconds to score the golden goal and secure the 4-3 OT victory.
Poprad used Zvolen's hesitation against lower-ranked opposition to go top of the rankings after crushing rivals Slovan Bratislava 4-0.
After a run of bad games, Detva is back on the right track, winning its second match in a row, outscoring Trencin 5-2 thanks to a strong, three-goal final period.
