CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Feb. 23 (PIA) - - The Philippine Statistics Authority - Kalinga Statistics Office reported 41.32 percent accomplishment of its targeted 34,020 person-registrants under Step 1 of the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys, as of February 22.
PSA-Kalinga head Maribel Dalayday said the nine data collectors have registered 14,069 in 10 of the 24 assisted barangays. They have already completed onsite registration in barangays Cabaritan, Tuga and Nambucayan of Tabuk City; Upper Uma and Tanglag in Lubuagan; Pangol and Lay-asan in Tanudan; Old Tinglayan, Basao, Belong and Dananao in Tinglayan.
Registration is on-going in barangays Guilayon, Cudal, Gobgob, and Calaccad, Taga, Liwan West, Tulgao, Buaya, Colayo, Malucsad, Bagtayan, Maling, and Talalang.
These 24 barangays classified with high poverty incidence are placed under the assisted Philsys registration until March 31, 2021, Dalayday added.
The PhilSys aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Philippines for purposes of improving efficiency, promoting ease of doing business, reducing corruption and curtailing bureaucratic red tape, among others.
In a related development, PSA-Kalinga is also conducting the quarterly labor force survey to see the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on daily wage earners. "But instead of conducting it quarterly, it is done monthly starting February on orders of DOLE Secretary Silvester Bello to keep track of the plights of laborers," Dalayday disclosed.
She aid another survey being carried out is the commercial structure-based survey to get the inventory on stock of palay and corn on 37 sample establishments in the province. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
