ANGELES CITY, Feb. 23 (PIA) -- The city government feted local artists for their vital role in the success of the National Arts Month celebration in Angeles.
Among the artists who were recognized include Violeta Gregorio whose paintings were featured at the Salangi Ko Pu Art Gallery; Yian Gabriel, Pecjo Arlin Salonga, Raemie Tulabut who shared their talent in spoken poetry; and Arnel Garcia, Arnel Mallari, and Glossy Lairiel Co who taught basic art tutorials.
"We want to thank Angeleno artists who voluntarily shared their time and talents to help the city government in promoting arts and culture," Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said.
Aside from the recognition, he also reaffirmed the city government's commitment in providing assistance to all local artists, especially during the pandemic.
"Rest assured that the city government is one with you in promoting arts and culture in our city. We will continue with our programs and services for our local community of artists, to aid you in your craft," the mayor said.
Meanwhile, despite the current pandemic, the city government, through the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) lined up various activities to celebrate National Arts Month.
Among these is the launching of free online art tutorial videos on color blending, acrylic painting, and basic art for kids through the ACTO Facebook page. ACTO also featured young poets through a series of spoken poetry videos in its Facebook page.
The city also featured the works of 72-year old Violeta Gregorio at the Salangi Ko Pu Art Gallery.
On top of these activities, ACTO also plans to tap other local artists to have their works featured at the Salangi Ko Pu Art gallery, and the city's One Town, One Product store.
"Aside from promoting their talents, this will also serve as additional income generation and livelihood opportunity for them by providing additional platforms to sell their works," Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel said. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
